The Museum of Nature and Science is one of Dallas’ top ten visitor attractions.  The museum is spread out over a couple of buildings who are all roughly in the same area of Fair Park, Dallas. You will find the Science Building at 1318 South 2nd Ave, the Nature Building at 3535 Grand Ave, and the Planetarium is based at 1620 1st Avenue. The Dallas Museum of Nature and Science: Overview
The Museum of Natural History opened its doors in ‘36 and was 1 of the area’s 1st natural history museums. It’s mentioned in the United States National Register of Historic Places & can proudly say that it’s the region’s only research driven, public collections based, Natural History Museum.

In 1999, the Dallas Museum of Nature and Science earned the prestigious status of being named a Smithsonian Institution Affiliate Museum.  The establishment has been part of prominent discoveries including the discovery and transport of the famous Big Bend Sauropod dinosaur fossils, and the extensive work behind the validation of the Monte Verde findings.

The Dallas Museum of Nature and Science: Exhibitions
The Museum houses many exciting exhibitions in its 3 Fair Park structures and offsite storage warehouse. Its Nature Building alone has collections containing more than two hundred thousand items, including artifacts, mammals, entomology, eco-facts, invertebrate and vertebrate paleontology, ichthyology, malacology, ornithology, and herpetology specimens.

The Dallas Museum of Nature and Science: Particulars
The Science Building is located at 1318 South Second Avenue, and the Nature Building is located at 3535 Grand Avenue.  You will find these buildings two miles east of downtown and two blocks south of Interstate 30. If you are driving follow the Fair Park directional signs that you will find in the area. Both these buildings are open daily from 10 AM to 6 PM.  You are able to visit the Planetarium Building at 1620 First Avenue daily from noon to 5 PM.

If you are in the mood for having a meal or snack while at the Dallas Museum of Nature and Science, you can visit either the Museum Café or the Old Mill Inn Restaurant.  For light dining, visit the Museum Café in the MNS Science Building.  If you are in the mood for something more substantial, head over to the Fair Park Old Mill Inn Restaurant, which is located within walking distance of the museum.
